First retwist

I did my first retwist last night at 2:00am, four weeks after I started my locs. I was so excited about it and was glad to see some thick new growth. However, there is one little problem: I REALIZED THAT I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO PALM TWIST MY OWN HAIR! I watched some YouTube videos about this method, but they were all showcasing locticians doing it on other people's hair. Therefore, I did not know how to do it on one's self (does that make sense?). Some of my locs turned out just fine, while others looked like they weren't touched at all...
Oh, well! I'll wait another 4 to 5 weeks to retwist my hair, because I do not want to overdo it and mess my hard labor.
On a more positive note, I noticed that my hair is looking less and less like twists. Rather, they look like comb twists which can only mean one thing! My locs are starting to mesh together, slowly but surely. I've received compliments about them from strangers and family alike, the latter being rather surprising to me.
I'll come back later to post some pics!

Congratulations on your first retwist!

I used to have traditional locks about two years ago. I used to retwist them every four weeks. I also got in the nasty habit of twisting when day dreaming (not good because of over twisting.

I tried palm rolling myself but it is rather awkward! It is obviously easy to do on others rather than on one self. So you're not alone on that score.

Had i known about locking with a tool i would have done just that and save the ones i twisted to death.

Hope you find the tutorial out there in 'you tube land'.

Looking forward to your pics of your journey thus far. Practice makes perfect in terms of maintenance. It gets better each time you do it.

I've seen one or two of your natural hair videos so welcome to the locked side.

Oh, my! Tell me why I never noticed (or even got a notification about) your comments?! Thans for the support. My roots turned into a mini afro again after a few days so I'll have to retwist my hair again... I'll give it a few weeks for my hair to recover and watch some more tuts. If I still don't get a hang of it, I'll have to consider latching...
